# Install the CLI

> Install the atmee command line with Go and sign in, with your browser or an API key.

## Install

`atmee` is one Go binary, built from source. With Go 1.21 or later (Go fetches the version the
CLI needs), and `$(go env GOPATH)/bin` on your `PATH`:

```bash
go install github.com/Atmanity/toolkit/cli/cmd/atmee@latest
atmee --help
```

Run the same command again to upgrade.

## Sign in

```bash
atmee login
```

A browser opens on the "Connect an app to Atmee" page: sign in and allow access. The CLI prints
`Signed in as <email>` and the account it acts for. If your login belongs to several accounts,
pick one with `atmee login --account <id>`.

To use an API key instead, which suits servers and CI, run `atmee login --api-key` and paste the
key, or set `ATMEE_API_KEY`. See [API keys](/docs/v2/api/api-keys).

A sign-in belongs to the server it was made against. `atmee` talks to production
(`https://api.atmanity.us`) unless `ATMEE_BASE_URL` says otherwise: set that first, then sign in.

The CLI's sign-in appears under **Connected agents** in your
[account settings](https://www.atmee.ai/studio/account) as "Atmee CLI", and is revoked there.
`atmee logout` only removes the sign-in saved on this computer; it does not end it.
